# Assemblies

Use assemblies to define often-repeated groups of items and attach them to equipment, or place them manually on the takeoff canvas.

## Create an assembly

There are a few ways to create an assembly.

1. **The Assembly database.** Navigate to `Assemblies` in the left sidebar to see the Assemblies database. Click the `Create` button.
2. \*\*The takeoff view. \*\*When selecting equipment or distribution items in the inspector, you will see an `Attached Assemblies` cell. In this cell you can click to attach an existing assembly to this specific takeoff object, or create a new one to attach. Assembly components will be present in takeoff reports for each instance of this takeoff object.
